Bone & Busk corsets begin with the finest materials available: tightly woven, fine herringbone-weave cotton German coutil is the base for all of our custom corsetry. Fashion fabrics are interfaced or hand roll-pinned wherever necessary to provide a smooth finish. All seams are reinforced to produce the strongest seam possible. A cotton twill staytape is placed at the waistline to maintain structural integrity and to prevent the waist from stretching over time. We use a mixture of different weights in our steel boning, depending upon each individual clients’ body type and desired shape requirements. Bone & Busk ready to wear corsets are boned with our most flexible and comfortable sprung steel flats for comfort and ease of wear. Our busks are imported from Germany and of the highest quality, and we use two part grommets, set closely together to create even lacing capabilities. We finish with self-made binding, and strong double-faced satin ribbon. Lace embellishment, beading, crystals and rhinestones are all set by hand.

Our patterns have been developed from over a decade of experience in reproducing antiques as well as drafting avant garde shapes. We choose to produce antique silhouettes but cut for the modern figure, allowing for more room in the ribcage and a more flattering side profile. Bone & Busk was one of the first corsetry companies within the last ten years to offer support garments for individuals with low to moderate scoliosis and other ailments: while our corsetry does not correct back problems, we accommodate for misalignments to produce shapes that the wearer may not have been capable of previously. Our accommodation work is offered strictly on a fully custom and bespoke basis.

Ready to Wear

Our ready to wear corsetry is constructed in the same method as our custom and bespoke items. We strive to produce the highest quality possible for even our simplest garments. Our ready to wear line includes waspies, our underbusts and over busts, as well as dresses, skirts, outerwear, trousers and accessories.

Our made-to-measure corsetry can be made in variety of fabrics or finishes tailored to your individual style. We offer custom with a complimentary mock-up fitting (shipping not included). Prices begin at $600 for underbusts and $800 for overbusts.

Bone & Busk bespoke corsetry follows in suit with traditional bespoke tailoring: hand-drafted pattern to suit an individual’s body, hand-finished details and requiring at least two fittings. Prices begin at $800 for underbusts and $1200 for overbusts. Includes sketches, fabric sourcing, fittings and hand-embellishment.

Ordering Information and Policy

For custom and bespoke corsetry, we suggest booking an appointment at our showroom, conveniently located at 1616 Queen st. West, between the hours of 11-5pm. We are open Monday to Friday, and are by appointment only on the weekends. If you are not located in Toronto, do not worry! We offer remote fittings as well for our international clients. Send us an email, and one of our team will guide you throughout the ordering process.

We will ask for a 50% deposit up-front for orders under $600. For orders over $600, we ask for 25% upfront and 25% upon the mockup fitting, both systems require full payment before the garment is delivered. These deposits are non-refundable.

We do not offer refunds on custom made garments. In-store ready to wear purchases are size exchange only or store credit is given.

For bridal purchases, we typically book 6 months prior to your wedding. If you wish to have a piece made in a rush, we require a fee to the sum of 25% of your total and in some instances, we cannot guarantee fit if we cannot provide a mockup, or, if you require changes to your garment after the mockup process. Any additional changes will be reflected in your final deposit.
